EDSupport is a powerful blend of scheduled learning, live teaching and on-demand assistance, designed to provide your students with comprehensive and flexible educational support.
Imagine a cinema with a set timetable of film screenings each day and week for your students (the scheduled pre-recorded lessons). Now picture Netflix, Amazon Prime or Disney+, where you can watch series and movies whenever you want (on-demand access to video lessons and clips).
EDSupport combines these two concepts, offering a structured learning experience with the flexibility of on-demand resources, all enhanced by live teacher interaction.
Core Functionality
EDSupport houses a vast library of over 2000 pre-recorded lessons. These lessons are meticulously created and filmed in diverse settings – classrooms, labs, on location, exam questions, and in the field – to deliver engaging and informative content.
Students on an EDClass seat will follow a structured timetable schedule that directs them to these specific pre-recorded lessons at set times where they attend within a small classroom with an EDClass teacher.
Intelligent Scheduling and Live Teacher Integration
The EDClass algorithm intelligently maps the students’ schedules (whilst on an EDClass seat) and automatically assigns an EDClass teacher to work 1-to-12 live with these students.
This means that as students progress through the pre-recorded lessons in their own time, a live teacher is available to interact with them directly as they see their progress within the lessons.
This live interaction allows teachers to provide real-time support, answer questions, clarify concepts, and guide their learning as students progress through the lessons in their own time, whilst on their EDClass seat.
Flexible Learning with Live Support
Learners within EDSupport have access to a rich, live learning environment, allowing for dynamic support and engagement.
Pathway-based Grouping and Extension Activities
The EDClass algorithm intelligently groups students into virtual EDSupport classrooms when they are working on the same learning pathways. This further optimises live teaching and live teaching support, allowing teachers to address common questions and provide targeted guidance to groups of students with similar needs.
Recognising that students learn at different paces, the new EDSupport module provides extension questions specifically designed for those students who are progressing more quickly. This ensures that their learning remains challenging and specific to their individual pace and optimum learning level.
Integrated Safeguarding with EDSafe
Crucially, the EDSupport module works hand-in-hand with the EDSafe module. As students’ progress through their learning within EDSupport, any potential safeguarding issues are instantly flagged within EDSafe.
This allows our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) to address these concerns immediately, ensuring that safeguarding never impacts the student’s teaching and learning.
The EDClass safeguarding team has a comprehensive overview, as well as your establishments DSLs can view all learners’ streams within the platform.
Seamless Transitions for Student Support
If a student requires a break or pause in their learning for any reason – be it a safeguarding concern, a well-being need, or a requirement for extra SEND assistance – they can be seamlessly moved from the EDSupport classroom into either the EDSafe module (for safeguarding issues) or the EDNurture module (for nurture, well-being, or SEND support).
This on-demand flexibility ensures that students receive the right type of support at the moment they need it, without disrupting their overall educational journey.
Enhanced Safeguarding Visibility for Ofsted
Finally, it’s important to know that you have “eyes on” your students at all times they are logged into the EDClass platform. You can see them live, just as our team can.
This provides an extra layer of safeguarding oversight for all your learners, which is particularly valuable during Ofsted inspections as it clearly demonstrates the additional levels of care and protection you provide.
