The EDClass music apps are purpose-built to enhance students’ understanding and progression in music, aligning with the Key Stage 2 and 3 Music curriculum.
These purpose-built apps offer interactive and practical ways for students to explore diverse musical practices beyond traditional methods.
The apps enhance understanding by providing a hands-on, experiential approach to abstract musical concepts. They enable progression by allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge immediately, experiment creatively, and develop technical proficiency at their own pace within a supportive digital environment.
The direct feedback and interactive nature of the apps help students to self-correct and build confidence as they move from foundational skills to more complex musical creations.

DJing App
This app allows students to experiment with mixing tracks, beatmatching, and creating seamless transitions.
Enhances Understanding: Students learn about rhythm, tempo, phrasing, and how different musical elements fit together in a performance context. They develop an ear for blending sounds.
Progression: From basic beatmatching, students can progress to more complex mixing techniques, understanding song structure and how to build energy in a set.
Keyboard Playing App
This interactive app teaches students to play the keyboard, often with guided lessons, feedback on note accuracy, and a visual representation of keys and notation.
Enhances Understanding: Directly supports musical literacy and fluency by connecting visual notation with auditory output. Students grasp melody, harmony, and basic chord structures.
Progression: Beginners can learn basic melodies and chords, advancing to more complex pieces, sight-reading, and understanding musical scales and arpeggios.
Music Production App
This app provides tools for students to create their own original music, often including virtual instruments, drum machines, sequencers, and effects.
Enhances Understanding: Students apply their knowledge of musical elements (melody, rhythm, harmony, texture, timbre) in a practical, creative way. They learn about arrangement, layering sounds, and the role of different instruments in a track.

Guitar Playing App
Similar to the keyboard app, this provides interactive lessons for learning guitar, often with chord diagrams, fretboard visuals, and audio feedback.
Enhances Understanding: Students learn about chords, strumming patterns, fingerpicking, and how to read guitar tablature or notation. They develop coordination and a practical sense of harmony and rhythm.
Progression: From basic chords and simple songs, students can advance to more complex chord progressions, scales, and even improvisation, building a foundation for lifelong guitar engagement.

This app allows students to combine their original or existing music with visual elements, creating music videos.

Progression: From simple video editing, students can progress to understanding visual narrative, synchronising visuals with audio, and experimenting with different visual styles to match musical genres.

This app focuses on the technical aspects of manipulating audio, such as editing, mixing, applying effects, and mastering.
