KS2-4 Science Curriculum
Science at EDClass interleaves the three scientific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics and provides the foundations for comprehending the world around us.
The Science Curriculum builds upon key themes outlined in the KS2 National Curriculum and is designed to foster curiosity, develop questioning skills and grow analytical thinking.
Within our KS3 science, learners begin by studying cells, the particle model and waves. The component knowledge developed within these topics underpins all of our understanding of how organisms form, grow, function and interact with their environment, as well as how matter behaves and how light and sound travel.
In KS4, the curriculum spirals and topics covered within KS3 are revisited, which allows learners to re- engage with prior knowledge, and makes the links to previous learning explicit.
Curriculum Specialisation
In order to deepen their knowledge and skills in these topics, learners also expand into specialised areas, such as coordination and control, inheritance and genetics, wave calculations, organic chemistry and industrial processes.

Interconnected Scientific Disciplines
The sequencing of the topics within the science curriculum encourages learners to make connections between different scientific themes, and therefore, start thinking about the big ideas which underpin scientific knowledge and understanding.
Additionally, through the use of assessment, the science curriculum considers learners’ existing knowledge and skills, allowing pathways of learning to be tailored to the individual learner, ensuring the cohesion of knowledge and providing support for progression.
