How EDClass Enhances Key Stage 4 and GCSE Preparation
Our primary focus is to build confidence for GCSE success in the core subjects: Maths, English Language, English Literature, and Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
EDClass provides a vast library of lessons, resources, and practice exams aligned with the latest GCSE specifications. We follow all major examination boards, ensuring our content is relevant and up-to-date.
All our lessons incorporate Bloom’s Taxonomy, ensuring pupils are assessed across various levels of understanding—from basic recall to higher-order thinking skills.
Additionally, all lessons have extension questions with marksheets to provide targeted feedback and further challenge.
EDTeach provides our core teaching service. Our UK-qualified teachers, many of whom are current exam markers for awarding bodies, create and lead tailored learning pathways for pupils.
They use their expertise to identify knowledge gaps, provide targeted instruction, and deliver personalised support that maximises exam potential.
EDLive is where this support comes to life. Pupils can engage in real-time, one-on-one sessions with our teachers, ask questions, and receive instant feedback. This includes dedicated revision and catch-up live sessions for students as they progress or struggle with key concepts.
This live interaction provides a flexible, secure, and less stressful learning environment, reducing the anxiety often associated with GCSE exams.
How the KS4 Timetable Works
At EDClass, our timetable and sets for Key Stage 4 students are designed to be highly flexible and personalised, with a primary focus on core subjects: English language and literature, Maths, and the three Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics).
This approach is built on a ‘seat’ model, which allows schools and MATs to manage student access and allocate resources efficiently.
The EDClass timetable isn’t a rigid, one-size-fits-all schedule. Instead, it is a dynamic plan tailored to each student’s specific needs, which can be easily customised by school staff in collaboration with the EDClass team.
A 'seat' provides a school with access to the EDClass platform and its resources. A student can be assigned to a seat for specific, timetabled hours each day or week, ensuring they receive a consistent and structured learning experience even when off-site.
The same seat can be used by multiple students on different days or at different times. This flexibility allows schools to use EDClass as a cost-effective intervention tool for a variety of students, from those on a part-time timetable to those needing sixth-day provision or catch-up support.
Students can engage in live, one-to-one sessions with our UK-qualified teachers, which are timetabled in advance. They can also access our extensive library of over 12,000 recorded lessons and self-paced content, allowing them to work independently at a time that suits them.
Subject Focus and Learning Pathways
While EDClass can be used for any course, our academic team specialises in the core subjects vital for GCSE success.
We have a deep curriculum in Maths, English Language and Literature, and Science (Biology, Chemistry, and Physics). Our teachers, many of whom are current exam markers, create bespoke learning pathways aligned with the curriculum the student was following in their registered school, including any specific exam board syllabuses.
Every student begins with a baseline or diagnostic assessment to accurately determine their academic level and pinpoint any gaps in their knowledge. This data is used to create a personalised learning pathway that addresses these specific needs.
The primary goal is to ensure that when students are ready to return to mainstream education, they are well-prepared to reintegrate into lessons without having fallen behind. EDClass provides comprehensive academic and pastoral support to make this transition as smooth as possible.
The Role of EDClass Staff
Our teaching and support teams are available Monday to Friday from 9a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to provide constant live teaching, supervision and support.
Our teachers deliver high-quality, targeted instruction through live one-to-one or small-group sessions. They can switch from helping a student with a quadratic equation to guiding them through a literary analysis, providing individualised attention when it's needed most.
Alongside academic learning, our resilience team provides dedicated support for students' wellbeing, which is crucial for those with anxiety, EBSA, or other mental health challenges.
All student interactions are fully safeguarded and monitored, with an alert system in place for students to use if they feel unsafe, ensuring their well-being is our top priority.
Extensive Curriculum Coverage & Flexibility
EDInclude is our content engine that seamlessly integrates with your school’s schemes of work. It offers a broad range of subjects to support a well-rounded curriculum.
This extensive library allows pupils to learn at their own pace, anytime and anywhere, fitting study sessions around their commitments and addressing any gaps in their learning.
Wellbeing and Behavioural Support
EDClass recognises that a student’s success is not just about academics. EDNurture provides a dedicated pastoral and wellbeing service. Our resilience team helps pupils address social, emotional, and mental health needs, fostering resilience and building the confidence required for exam season.
Furthermore, EDSafe provides a secure, monitored environment where students can engage in a behaviour repair curriculum that addresses the root causes of disengagement.
By proactively managing these issues, EDClass helps to keep pupils on track for their GCSEs and reduces the pressure on school staff.
